Chef Central is more than just a place to go and get your knives sharpened, it's a cooking superstore. Whether you're a gourmet or a novice who doesn't know a decanter from a deglaze, it's got products, events and cooking classes to get everyone in the kitchen. The two locations are very-large-scale facilities that hold appliances, top ingredients and everything in between.
Essential Communications was an essential ingredient in creating a cohesive, consistent experience for all of Chef Central's customers. The NYC A/V firm installed a CD-based music management system, a chef demo kitchen with high speech intelligibility and sharp video, and comprehensive paging.
"A lot of people tend to look at a store plan and do a very generic formula," Essential Communications' president David Schwartz explained in an article on the install in Sound & Communications magazine. "They say, 'Okay, ten-foot centers, 20-foot centers.' Then afterwards, there's a problem because they didn't anticipate what the dynamics of the store were where the customers were going to be!
"We looked at the store's reflected ceiling plan to see where we could actually, physically place speakers. Then we looked at the floor plan that had the furnishings layout. After looking at the shopping patterns of customers, we put the music sources where the customers were going to be."
As a result, three distinct audio zones were carefully analyzed for maximum audio effectiveness. Fourteen SoundTube RS-60 loudspeakers were chosen specifically for their ability to deliver high fidelity sound over the wide area created by Chef Central's open ceiling plan.
At Chef Central, Essential Communications' A/V expertise and commitment to treating every project with a unique approach combined for an uncommonly appealing audio environment. |
