The ambitious downtown Manhattan fine-dining venture launched by famed restaurateurs Mario Batali, Lidia Matticchio Bastianich and Joseph Bastianich is known as "Del Posto", meaning "of the place". In keeping with this notion, Italian heritage permeates the atmosphere and cuisine of this massive 18,000-square-foot establishment.
In a quest to provide the "ultimate expression of what an Italian restaurant should be", Del Posto offers a superior dining experience steeped in tradition. "Del Posto is a really intriguing space with interesting architecture spearheaded by architect Glen Coben of Glen Coben Architecture & Design," explains David Schwartz, president of Essential Communications, the sound and video systems designer that was brought on board early in the project to help complete the restauranteurs' vision for the space. "This is a world-class group out to create a true four-star Italian experience in New York City. Essential Communications is a good match because we specialize in restaurants and hospitality venues that operate at the highest level."
In order to enhance the atmosphere at Del Posto, Essential Communications was asked to implement an audio system that would handle both live music and background music playback.
"In addition to being a restaurant, Del Posto has a lot of event space,” Schwartz says. "There will often be live music playing, and we prepared for that by installing connections for an auxiliary mixer to connect microphones, as well as cabling so the music could be broadcast throughout the space. For AV presentations, the private dining room also has a motorized Draper projection screen that retracts into the ceiling so they don’t have to deal with a tripod on the floor."
The result is a four-star entertainment and presentation system that enhances Del Posto's homegrown Italian ambiance. |
