One of Brooklyn's most cherished downtown landmarks, Junior's restaurant and bakery, has proudly served up the "World's Most Fabulous Cheesecake" since 1950. Part of Junior's recipe for success is the bustling, friendly atmosphere of its familiar orange-and-white-striped home on Flatbush Avenue.
While it's not easy to improve on a world-famous favorite, the team at Essential Communications was happy to answer Junior's call for an upgrade to their restaurant sound system. "This project represents Junior's commitment to the use of sound and music for a better experience," observes David Schwartz, President of Essential Communications. "More and more restaurants are recognizing the importance of professional services for music and sound, and they don't want to leave it to chance."
The renovation of the sound system was a logical extension to the new interior design at Junior's Brooklyn location. Junior's was looking to enhance its dining environment with a music system that served up made-to-order sound. "The music changes throughout the day to match the different dining services – breakfast, lunch and dinner," Schwartz says.
Essential Communications applied its deep expertise in restaurant sound system design and installation to the project and specified the highly flexible Trusonic music delivery service to give Juniors an edge in ambience. Trusonic consists of an Internet appliance installed in the restaurant which connects to the sound system and the Trusonic central server via high-speed Internet. The restaurant's management can easily interact with the system via the intuitive online interface called Music Manager, which allows for convenient programmed playback and song-selection features, daily modifications to schedules, and more.
"Trusonic is the ideal solution for hectic business environments like Junior's, where management needs a sophisticated music system that can take care of itself," Schwartz notes. "Its advanced scheduling tool allows us to specify the right music at the right time of day, playing up-to-the-minute, fully licensed playlists that Trusonic compiles. Meanwhile, the staff can concentrate on great customer service – and cheesecake, of course."
With the new sound system being installed at the same time as the restaurant's new ceiling, Essential Communications took advantage of the opportunity to add new levels of flexibility to the audio system. "Since the ceiling was being replaced, we got the necessary access to run new cabling and install new speakers," Schwartz recalls. "This also gave us the ability to ‘zone' out the restaurant and give the owners control over the volume in various areas throughout the space. It also gave us the ability to add speakers to places where they hadn't been before."
Junior's has kept its cheesecake recipe in the family for three generations, so this is one restaurant that knows the power of true expertise. That's why when it came time to expand with a new Junior's location in Times Square, New York, the restaurant once again turned to Essential Communications for sound system design.
Today, the home of the world's most fabulous cheesecake has another consistent flavor -- a music and sound system provided by Essential Communications in both its Brooklyn and Times Square locations. "We specify technology like Trusonic that works time and time again to ensure consistent results – it's all part of a system that works when it's supposed to and doesn't break down," Schwartz concludes. "The result is an enhanced Junior's experience, for the owners and their customers." |
